In April 2000, on the day after retiring as Mendip's Solicitor, Adrian I'Anson set off to Bosnia to monitor an election. Over 24 years, he has travelled to various countries in Eastern Europe and Asia to observe other elections. Along the way he has glimpsed how differing countries seek to balance democracy with the desire to retain political control.
